Teresa is the owner and founder of 551 Forensics, LLC with over five years of experience in forensic accounting within the public accounting industry. She has authored numerous reports for use in civil and criminal investigations related to marital waste, pension valuations, employment fraud, misappropriation of assets, economic damages, business disputes and breach of fiduciary duty. She has also conducted numerous fraud risk assessments, including identifying and quantifying past fraud damages, for small businesses and prepared suggestions for policy and procedural changes to enhance financial security and mitigate fraud risks. Teresa has extensive experience working with all parties involved in each case, including the victims, defense and prosecution. She has provided expert witness testimony in matters associated with family law and probate cases and has consulted on multiple criminal cases for both the defense and prosecution.
Teresa has experience in both tax and audit as well as over twelve years of experience in accounting services to include accounting for private companies. She also has over eleven years of experience in Law enforcement communications which included skip tracing and other investigative support services for police officers and detectives.
Teresa obtained her Bachelor's in Accounting from Ottawa University, Phoenix and her Associates in Administration of Justice Studies from Glendale Community College. She is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Licensed Private Investigator.
James has been a certified peace officer in the state of California since 2002 and has spent the last 14 years as a criminal investigator, investigating crimes such as child abuse, sexual assault, bank robbery, kidnapping, homicide and use of force investigations. He has been the primary investigator assigned to over 50+ cases involving homicide, officer/deputy involved shootings, use of force with great bodily injury, assault under the color of authority, peace officer suicides, in-custody deaths, and the murder and attempted murder of on-duty peace officers. He has assisted on over 200+ investigations involving the same crimes. James has been assigned to his department’s active homicide team, cold case homicide team, and was a founding member of his departments force investigation detail.
As an investigator, James has interviewed hundreds of individuals involved in use of force incidents between law enforcement and private citizens. He is also recognized for his expertise in California legislation and Federal case law related to the use of reasonable force by law enforcement, including Graham v. Connor | 490 U.S. 386 (1989). James has an extensive history of reviewing digital media evidence, such as body-worn camera footage and surveillance recordings, to analyze and assess use-of-force incidents and various criminal offenses. He has provided expert witness testimony in multiple criminal matters and has both consulted on and testified in civil cases.
James received his Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice from San Diego State University. He is a certified Force Science Analyst and is a California POST certified instructor, instructing at the community college level, regional law enforcement academy and in the private sector.
